Please read the agreement below carefully and complete the form at the end with your details.
Contracting is a standard and ethical part of counselling, psychotherapy, coaching and leadership coaching. It provides a clear framework for our work together by setting expectations and outlining key processes.
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and having completed BACP-accredited training, I work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework, which requires a clear agreement to be in place before sessions begin.
For more details, please refer to the FAQ page.
The contract outlines our working relationship in Counselling, Psychotherapy, and Coaching, using the Personal Consultancy approach.
Days & Times
Once agreed, your session days and times are reserved exclusively for you. Sessions are typically weekly, unless we agree on a different schedule, such as bi-weekly or monthly and last 50 minutes unless we arrange otherwise. We can collaborate to adjust the schedule to suit your needs, based on availability.
In-Person
We'll meet in the reception waiting area at the agreed time. For fire safety, building management requires visitors to sign in. You may use a random initial for confidentiality. Search for my name, Chris Murrell, on the menu.

Chris Cancellation of session
In the unlikely event that I need to cancel our session, I will inform you as soon as possible and offer another slot at no extra charge. If payment for a session has already been made, payment shall be carried forward for the next session or the newly arranged session that's offered as the alternative.
Chris on Leave
Where I plan to take leave (for example, for a holiday) and will be unable to hold our session, I will aim to give 2–4 weeks’ notice and make arrangements to either reschedule or agree a return date. In rare circumstances, less than two weeks’ notice may be given, although every effort will be made to communicate this as early as possible.
Review of Frequent Cancellations/Missed Sessions
If a pattern of missed or cancelled sessions emerges, our work together will be reviewed. If this is felt to be affecting the quality or continuity of the therapeutic process, I may suggest pausing sessions for a period of time until you feel ready to continue.
In these circumstances, your sessions will be removed from the calendar and the time slot offered to others. This will be discussed with you in advance. When you feel ready to resume, you are welcome to contact me to arrange future sessions, subject to availability.
It is a professional and insurance requirement that written records of attendance and very
brief notes are made, these are kept for a period of 6 years after the end of our work.
